Welcome to winter! It is a beautiful sunny day
with some nice warm weather heading our way. “I’m dreaming of a bright
Chirstmas…”
Do you know that Christmas day was chosen
because of the sun? The days got darker and darker and by the 25th,
people noticed the days get lighter again. So they worship the coming of the
sun; or actually, the return of the sun.
What a simple transition – from sun worshipers
to Son worshipers. The Son comes to deliver us from darkness. “The true light
that gives light to every man was coming into the world” (John 1:9). Generally
speaking, people love the light – for seeing, for reading, for working, for
walking, and for most other things. The light is worth honoring. Jesus is the
light of the soul. Jesus is the light of life. Jesus is the light of Christmas.
Jesus is worth honoring.
Equinox happened over night last night. I
picture the tilting earth coming to a screeching halt, reversing gears, and begin
tilting the other way. Like earth is saying, “enough darkness, let’s switch to
light” Of course, the other hemisphere sees it quite the opposite but the principle
is the same. Light comes into the darkness.
Let the light come into your life this
Christmas. Jesus shines!
