WELCOME to Sahali Fellowship
— a Christian Reformed church in Kamloops, British Columbia.

Our understanding of God is all messed up. We conjure up images of a judge who can’t wait to punish us for breaking his precious rules. We imagine a God who would run things perfectly and since that is so far from reality, there must be no God.

But here’s another thought.
What if God loves his world so much that he would not dream of interfering with your freedom, or of the freedom of anyone in the world. Many believe God should interfere in the freedom of criminals and abusers and murderers. But if he does it for one, he’d have to do it for you. Would that not stimulate a new image of God as puppeteer?

The call of God includes 2 things.

1. God invites you to be. Your life is his creative act. By living your life, you are honoring God. By being, you are what God made. Every breath you take praises God. Every bite you eat expresses thanks to your Maker. Seems like a pretty good image of God to me.

2. God invites you to love. God loves because God is love. He wants you to participate in extending love to others in his world and to the earth itself. God loves his earth. God loves each person on his earth. Whenever you love, you accept God’s invitation. Seems like a pretty good image of God to me.

It just so happens that this God came to be one of us, Jesus. Through Jesus, you can now be and you can now love.

So how does the church fit in? At Sahali Fellowship, we see the church as a community of people who encourage and support each other in being and in loving. We use the word BE to implement blessing others, and eating with others – the heart of loving and the act of honoring God.

Enjoy life! It is ultimately a spiritual adventure!
